Wedding Ceremonies

Marriage Ceremony PA, Wedding Ceremony Sound Systems & Equipment Rental

If you have more than a handful of guests seated outdoors you will need a sound system so everyone can hear every single word of your marriage ceremony. Horizon Entertainment offers battery-powered sound systems (with speaker stands) perfect for lakefront marriage ceremonies, country club weddings, vacation resort weddings, beach weddings, park weddings, or any indoor/outdoor marriage ceremony; including a polished, well-dressed, qualified sound technician who not only helps coordinate your marriage ceremony, but also operates the music playback/PA system equipment during the wedding ceremony.

Our Shure Microflex MX400D Seriesminiature electret condenser gooseneck omni-directional microphones, with a desktop base, allows these mics to be used in multi–purpose set-ups where quick set–up is required (or where permanent installation is impractical).  This specially designed microphone will pick up all three of your voices and won't obscure your photographs. Watch out for the DJ or venue that provides a basic, close proximity, hand-held microphone!  When you are exchanging your wedding vows the last thing you want is a bulky looking microphone covering your face(s). Finally, as mentioned earlier, Horizon Entertainment provides a dual CD player and hook-up for your iPod or laptop for background, processional and recessional music, instrument cables, mics and direct (DI) boxes for musicians, as well as wired and wireless microphones for singers and guest readings.

Event Production, Indoor/Outdoor Weddings & Marriage Ceremony Packages

Horizon Entertainment will handle your entire event production for you (often for less $than it would cost to rent the same equipment being provided from a pro audio music rental center and run it yourself!). Once you have the date and venue, we will provide wedding music selection ideas, the songs requested and coordinate the audio and music playback systems for you. For Outdoor Marriage Ceremonies, Weddings and Receptions, we can even provide you with a portable power generator. Offering an experienced, courteous and dependable staff, Horizon Entertainment DJ Productions provides exceptional personalized service and can produce your event from the initial planning stages through completion.

JBL SRX Series Professional Sound Reinforcement Loudspeakers

 Invention, Innovation, Ingenuity.

The Foundation of JBL’s Technical Leadership

JBL's well-earned reputation has placed its speakers in 70% of all professional institutions, including legendary recording  studios, famous concert venues and premier movie houses. Throughout those 50+ years of technical breakthroughs, award winning  designs and continuing innovations the facts still remain: JBL loudspeakers continue to be the one benchmark for quality, the singular  reference for accuracy in the play back of recorded sounds; the leader, the innovator, the authority.

JBL SR and SR-X Series — The Complete Story

For over a decade, JBL SR series loudspeaker cabinets have represented the best performance, highest quality and most advanced driver technology available to   portable PA users.

The JBL SR-X series continues that tradition and moves the bar even higher. The advanced technology of JBL SR-X series speakers delivers the power and        performance that you would expect from the highest quality, professional rig.

As for the JBL SR-X4732 cabinet, IMO that is one of the very best sounding mid / high packs you can buy. You will not be sorry, very smooth and solid as a rock. I've used them in various bands for many years. For smooth mids, you can't beat 12" cones.

The JBL SR-X Series Is More Than Great Style.

There will always be a category of musicians, DJ’s, clubs and institutions that demand the best speaker systems made. The new JBL SR-X Series was designed for these most discerning users, with 11 models that embody the superior engineering, unsurpassed tour sound performance, legendary reliability and value inherent in the JBL name. Start with the JBL SR-X’s advanced DuraFlex™ finish. Add their all-new networks and crossovers. Top them off with the same components found in 9 out of 10 speaker systems on the road with today’s top touring acts*. All wrapped up in a speaker whose lineage is connected by a solid line of leadership more than half a century long.

Whatever You Expected From
High Performance Speakers…

The JBL SR-X Series Will Give You More

VGC™ (Vented Gap Cooling)

JBL’s unique low frequency transducers control heat build-up to increase power handling and decrease power compression, providing more acoustic output for every watt of amplifier input.

13-ply Birch Cabinets

All enclosures are constructed of 13-ply void-free baltic birch. The result is a solid enclosure free from resonances. . . What you hear is the speaker system, not the box.

Dual Mode Crossovers

The solution for total system flexibility can be easily switched from full-range to bi-amplified operation. A tamper-resistant, internal mode selector provides a visible, external indication of the selected mode.  * Based on “Top 10” survey of box office results conducted by Amusement Business Weekly. Includes JBL systems, proprietary systems using JBL components, manufactured systems using JBL OEM components.

Conjugate-Zobel Dividing Networks

JBL'S SR-X Series speakers are designed to maintain maximum sensitivity.  So your amplifier’s power gets to the speakers instead of going to waste heating up crossover components.

In addition, while each JBLSR-X speaker has a personality all its own; the line as a whole delivers a remarkable range of options. In fact, the JBL SR-X line is the most complete line of high performance speakers available today, with a model for virtually every application. Whether your needs call for JBLSR-X subwoofers, JBL SR-X front-of-house systems or SR-X stage monitors, you can be assured of owning a speaker that represents a new standard; a standard that will satisfy even the toughest of critics. In short, you can be assured that the new JBL SR-X systems are more than just the most prestigious speakers in their class. . .

They also boast massive amounts of true JBL technology, quality and substance.

‘My band's PA system currently consists of a powered mixer, two JBL TR225's, two JBL SR4702X monitors, a Crown CE1000 power amp (for TR225's) and a QSC PLX3402 amp (monitors).  I was looking at the rest of the JBL SR-X series and was curious as to what I should purchase next?  I was looking at the JBL SR-X4732 (two 12" speakers/3 way), the JBL SR-X4733 (two 15" speakers/2 way) and the JBL SR-X4719 (two 18" subs).I've read through a lot of these threads and my basic understanding is that 12 inch drivers sound much better than 15's, ESPECIALLY when paired with subwoofers.

“I really feel that using the industry standard gear is important in live sound production. The clients don't know much about production and the musicians know less; so it's important in my opinion to use the same gear that most of the other sound major production companies are using so that these people will recognize it and approve of it. JBL SR and JBL SR-X series is the most common speaker type used by professionals in regional touring, festival and small to medium venue production.”

When solid bass is called for, team up the SR4722X with an SR-X Series JBL SR-X 4732 and the Crown Macro-tech 3600-vz!

Paired with JBL 18" subwoofers combined with JBL SR-X 4732 3-way full-range speakers, this configuration is ideally suited to sound reinforcement and music playback use where low-frequency extension, mid-range clarity and projection are critical, mobile DJs and musicians will appreciate the simplicity and performance of the JBL SR-X loudspeaker series line-up. Sound companies will also find the entire JBL SR-X series to be a flexible addition to their sound reinforcement arsenals. The JBL SR-X 4732 enclosure may be used in full-range or bi-amplified modes with a passive cross-over handling the transition from the mid-range to the high-frequency driver.

A pair of JBL SR-X 4732 Dual 12" 3-way speakers. Paired with JBL 18" subwoofers combined with JBL SR-X 4732 3-way full-range speakers, these speakers are extremely crisp, clean sounding, powerful and loud.  Suitable for medium to large size events and venues where extended club style bass and sound is desired, ideal for school dances and large weddings.

I have a pair of JBL SRX4732 speakers matched with a Crown Macro-tech 3600-VZ amplifier. It sounds AWESOME. For Proms and High School Dances - JBL SR and JBLSRX Series Loudspeakers, powered by Crown Macro-tech amps are the absolute best.  I love them! I just wish they were smaller and easier to carry around.  For the right price, however, I would consider parting with them as I'm now focusing more on smaller wedding venues than I am on Proms and other High School events. JBL SR-X series speakers are nearly overkill for the average wedding, so I'm looking at going with some smaller powered speakers.

Let me know if you are interested.

How JBL Tortures Speakers:

At JBL Professional, we subject our designs to the most rigorous and demanding testing in the industry. As a result, the

power rating specification of a JBL Professional product may be lower than that of a competitive speaker which has less actual power handling capacity.

•JBL tests speaker systems as systems. Some competitive speaker systems are rated based on the power rating of the

individual transducers. Actually, the power handling of the individual components doesn’t tell the entire story. When a transducer is installed in an enclosure, it may not be able to dissipate heat as well as it did outside the box. Or the crossover network might fail long before the transducers. When you select a JBL speaker system, you know that the design has been tested as a complete system.

•JBL tests speaker designs for over 100 hours. A speaker system typically doesn’t reach its maximum operating tempera-

ture for at least 2 or more hours. Yet some manufacturers make power handling claims based on mere minutes of testing.

At JBL we test our designs for 100 hours at rated power output. Our 100 hour power test subjects the speaker to more stress and strain than it would get in years of actual use. At the end of this torture, the speaker must still perform to specification.

•JBL uses the IEC spectrum for testing speakers. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) has established a

standard for a loudspeaker test signal. This method uses shaped noise in a specified frequency range (50 Hz—5 kHz), a specified high and low-pass filter slope, and a specified “crest factor” (the ratio between the average and peak signal level). IEC shaped noise places greater demands on a speaker than real music.

The Crown Macro-Tech Series of Amplifiers.

Crown Macro-Tech Series, The ultimate ""Road Warriors"" the Macro-Tech amps can be found in touring systems and major installs all over the world.

The world has seen many good amplifiers, but few achieve greatness. What sets these elite few apart from all the others? The answer is simple:  A careful synthesis of unrivaled sonic performance combined with rock-solid dependability.

While the definition of a great amplifier may be simple, delivering on those requirements is not. This is what has always set Crown amplifiers apart from the others: Crown delivers.

From the slightest nuances in the tremolo of a flute to the chest pounding bass of a rock ’n’ roll kick drum to the harmonic rich vocals of a jazz singer, Crown delivers. Crown amplifiers are renowned for their ability to accurately amplify anything audio—with unmatched power and accuracy—night after night without fail.

For decades, the formula for creating great amplifiers has been the same at Crown:  An insightful combination of genetics, breakthrough technologies, craftsmanship, and passion. This formula, proven over and over, has produced a lineage of great amplifiers:  Words and pictures cannot convey what can only be experienced. We challenge you to arrange for a demonstration, and prepare to have your expectations for a great amplifier redefined.

No compromises, no gimmicks. Just brilliant engineering backed by superior manufacturing, support, and an unsurpassed commitment to quality. Like all Crown amps, the defining characteristic of the Macro-Tech Series is sonic accuracy. A tight, rock-solid low end, with smooth, detailed highs and a well-defined midrange. In short, the most accurate reproduction of an audio signal you’ve ever heard. And because we put the quality of sound above all else, a Crown is the most coveted amplifier in the business.

  • Ultra-Low Distortion: Crown's patented Grounded Bridge™ circuitry generates incredible voltage swings with ultra-low distortion and superior reliability.
  • ODEP(R) Protection: Patented Output Device Emulation Protection (ODEP) protects the amplifier and keeps the show going under adverse conditions that cause lesser amplifiers to fail. Front panel indicators show each channel's ODEP status. Several PIPTM modules also provide powerful ODEP-driven features.
  • Distortion Indicator: Advanced Input/Output Comparator (IOC(R)) alerts you if the amplifier causes any distortion of 0.05% or more.
  • PIP compatibility: Accommodates Programmable Input Processor (PIP) accessories that are used to customize the amplifier for specific applications. MA 02-Series amps are PIP2 compatible.
  • Selectable Mono Modes: Bridge-Mono mode provides double output voltage and Parallel-Mono mode provides double output current from a single channel.
  • Selectable Sensitivities: Choose from three input sensitivities: 0.775 volts or 1.4 volts for full rated power into 8 ohms, or a voltage gain of 26 dB.
  • Detented Level Controls: Detented level controls make it easy to set and reset precise levels.
  • VZ Power Supply Technology: The Macro-Tech 3600VZ and 5002VZ use patented power-supply technology which provides enormous power density and an optimum power match with a wide range of loads.
  • Current Indicator: (Macro-Tech 5002VZ only) Cutting edge current flow/current limit (ILOAD/ILIMIT) indicators tell you if current is flowing to the loads, and if the loads demand more current than the amplifier can deliver.
  • On-Board Compressors: (Macro-Tech 5002VZ only) Each channel has a custom compressor that reduces peak signal levels during input overload and output clipping. The compressors can be set for fast or slow operation, or turned off for output clipping.
  • Loudspeaker Offset Integration (LOI): (Macro-Tech 5002VZ only) Each channel has a high-performance loudspeaker protection circuit that compensates for DC offset to protect woofers, and filters ultrasonic frequencies to protect tweeters.
  • THX Approved: (Macro-Tech 2402 and 5002VZ only) Lucasfilm(R) approved for THX(R) sound system installations.
  • No-Fault Warranty: Three-Year, No-Fault, Fully Transferable Warranty completely protects your investment and guarantees its specifications.

Extremely heavy, but well the money!

By Kevin from Wisconsin on 7/17/2009

Pros:

Accurate Controls, Clean Sound, Durable, Easy To Set Up, Good Power

Best Uses:

Audiophiles, Larger Rooms, Touring

Describe Yourself:

Audiophile, FOH Engineer, Musically Inclined, Professional, Tech Savvy

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend!

This in my opinion is THE BEST Crown amp ever built, even better than the I-tech series. I've seen this amp run lower than 2 ohms in a night outside when it was 90 degree's and around 100% humidity. Not a single problem. The amps didn't hiccup, ODEP was never engaged, it just ran and was happy all night long. Running this amp for FOH applications, i've seen it run numerous types of subs and it does so with ease. If you have the money and the muscle to lift it, (it's a beast to try and lift, it's almost 80 pounds) it will be the best addition to your amp rack that money can buy. Also make sure you can power it, don't think of running it on a 15 amp circuit.

I’ve used them all…but FBT is a no brainer *****

Posted by Larry Stiebeling on June 29th

As a sound technician of 30 plus years, I owe no company an obligation, so I can tell everyone what the difference is between a good speaker and a great speaker. Hands down FBT is the world leader in lightweight gas injected molded polypropylene "plastic" powered boxes...period! Their clean sound at any volume is beyond belief. There design is light years ahead of the competition. Their components and construction is simply of the highest quality. B&C speakers (horns and drivers) are absolutely unreal sounding (and the best in the world!).  I could go on and on but PLEASE...before you consider buying ANY powered or passive mid/high pack speakers, try these. I bet they are what you will buy...they are all that!!!!  They’re more expensive than the competition, but they’re worth every penny!!!

FBT Hi Maxx Powered Speakers

“Well I have stumbled across this review site as I contemplated whether or not I should purchase a pair of these FBT

Maxx 4a speakers… I am a professional singer and Karaoke Jockey and I’ve recently downsized my rig due to lifting problems.  I started with an FBT pick up mixer/amp combo. My agent ordered the pair of FBT Maxx4a speakers for me and I took them out on the road for the 1st time last night. All I can say is… WOW!  Truly Amazing!

I’ve been on the road for many years and have heard all kinds of speaker systems, from Bose to Electro-Voice, from Turbosound to Ohm and I have to say, that considering how light-weight and compact these speakers are, I was a bit concerned that not only the quality of the cabinet would be affected by this, but also the sound. Visually they remind me of the EV SX Series speaker. So presumably I thought they were a cheap version of the EV cabinet and would fall well below par in comparison… Oh no!  How wrong was I…! The sound is crystal clear and the bass is surprisingly punchy for a cabinet as small and light as the FBT Maxx 4’s.

The continuous pace I put them through last night was immense and they stood up to the job fantastically. For the price and the benefit of their size and weight, they are an awesome sound cabinet and they out price the comparisons by a long way. For professional singers, bands, and Karaoke Jockey's you can’t go far wrong with these cabinets. For DJ's, they would be excellent with a sub or two, just to give them the extra kick. But overall, FBT Maxx4a’s gives a 10 out of 10 for performance…  Oh and vocally???  WOW! I previously used Celestion SR10 MK 2 speakers and they were okay for sound, but not that good for vocals, these FBT Maxx 4a’s even made the worst singers sound good. LOL!”

*You can add FBT Maxx4a’s to my Christmas wish list!"

How much should you pay for a Great DJ?
How much should you spend on a professional wedding DJ? Well, let’s put it this way….the bad ones are a dime a dozen!  It couldn’t be more true that, “you get what you pay for” when it comes to hiring a professional DJ. In reality, the difference in actual price between a bargain DJ and a professional DJ is relatively small compared to the overall cost of planning a wedding. Couples will think nothing of spending $20 to $40 per person for food and drinks, and then turn around and bargain-hunt for the cheapest entertainment that they can find, often spending less than 5% of the total cost of the wedding on entertainment. Your guests are likely to remember only one thing about your wedding when they leave: Did they have a good time?
Investing 8-10% of your wedding budget on your DJ is actually a great value, considering that he accounts for 80% of the responsibility of a successful wedding reception. Bear in mind that the average cost of a vegetable tray for appetizers is $350-$400! Ask any bride and groom and they will tell you that the entertainment value of your wedding reception is worth far more than a vegetable tray. When deciding how much you can afford for entertainment, first think about how much you can afford to lose if your entertainment is poor or mediocre.Look for professionals and expect to pay them what they’re worth. A great DJ that is able to handle all the responsibilities discussed in this report will undoubtedly cost more than one who cannot live up to these strenuous expectations.
The Pricing “Game”
Pricing professional DJs can be a tricky thing. A lot of DJs will take advantage of the fact that couples have little or no experience in shopping for a professional DJ. Therefore, they will create a number of confusing packages for you to choose from, knowing full-well that you will have a difficult time distinguishing between them. They do this by charging extra for the tools that should be basic for a successful evening, things like proper equipment, lights, travel expenses, etc. A reputable DJ company will understand and sympathize with your lack of experience in hiring their services. A good DJ company will make it easy for you to understand exactly what you are going to get, for how much, and for how long.
The ideal DJ company will offer one, all inclusive package!
It is also important to understand how professional DJs set their rates. DJs work on supply and demand, much like a vacation spot or travel activity. They set their prices based on availability. Expect to pay the most during the busy wedding season of May through October, as well as for Saturdays, the busiest wedding day of the week. In contrast, the period of November through April is a slower time of year for weddings and Fridays and Sundays are the slowest days of the week. Having a wedding during the slow months or on the less-used days of the week can save you money in almost every area of your wedding, not just on the entertainment.
So, how much?
If your DJ costs less than your vegetable tray, then you’ve got a problem! In the Reno Nevada Metro area, for example, expect to pay anywhere from $750 to $1500 for a professional DJ who you can have confidence in to make your wedding a complete success. The price may be less during the “off” season. The actual price will depend on several factors, including day and date of the wedding, duration of event, equipment needs, etc. Again, it is best to find a company that offers one, all-inclusive package.
Is it worth it?
Consider how much it would cost you to...
  • Rent $10,000 of sound & lighting gear? ($500.00)
  • Horizon Entertainment provides more than three-times or $30,000.00 of sound and lighting gear for each event (value = $1,500.00).
  • Hire someone to deliver it, set it up, and then tear it down at the end of the evening? ($300.00)
  • Download and / or buy just the bare minimumof the music you would need including cocktail, dinner & dance music ($200.00)
  • Hire a professional Master of Ceremonies? ... Professional speaking is one of the highest paid professions in the world…a minimum of ($400.00)
  • Hire a professional disc jockey to just play & mix the music? ($200.00)
  • Hire a wedding consultant to coordinate the evening’s events? ($350.00)
That totals up to more than $3400.00!
