Tips for a Perfect Outdoor Marriage Ceremony & Wedding Reception

Our Sound Reinforcement Set-Ups are comprised of a wide variety of high-end professional audio (audiophile) equipment which include high powered 2-way and 3-way speakers (with and without speaker stands) large and small audio mixers, wired and wireless microphones, Pro dual CD players, tables (with linens), and a hook up for your iPod or laptop computer. You can also add high powered single or dual 15" or 18” sub-woofers, additional satellite speakers, flood lights, or even an 8,000 watt portable power generator. All of our equipment is delivered, set up, tested, and operated by a highly trained and experienced sound technician/disc jockey/sound engineer and then of course, packed up and removed from the job site.

Horizon Entertainment offers battery-powered sound systems (with speaker stands) perfect for lakefront marriage ceremonies, country club weddings, vacation resort weddings, beach weddings, park weddings, or any indoor/outdoor marriage ceremony; including a polished, well-dressed, qualified sound technician who not only helps coordinate your marriage ceremony, but also operates the music playback/PA system equipment during the wedding ceremony.

Our Shure Microflex MX400D Series miniature electret condenser gooseneck omni-directional microphones, with a desktop base, allows these mics to be used in multi–purpose set-ups where quick set–up is required (or where permanent installation is impractical).  This specially designed microphone will pick up all three of your voices and won't obscure your photographs. Watch out for the DJ or venue that provides a basic, close proximity, hand-held microphone!  When you are exchanging your wedding vows the last thing you want is a bulky looking microphone covering your face(s). Finally, as mentioned earlier, Horizon Entertainment provides a dual CD player and hook-up for your iPod or laptop for background, processional and recessional music, instrument cables, mics and direct (DI) boxes for musicians, as well as wired and wireless microphones for singers and guest readings.

I’ve used them all…but FBT is a no brainer *****

As a sound technician of 30 plus years, I owe no company an obligation, so I can tell everyone what the difference is between a good speaker and a great speaker. Hands down FBT is the world leader in lightweight gas injected molded polypropylene "plastic" powered boxes...period! Their clean sound at any volume is beyond belief. There design is light years ahead of the competition. Their components and construction is simply of the highest quality. B&C speakers (horns and drivers) are absolutely unreal sounding (and the best in the world!).  I could go on and on but PLEASE...before you consider buying ANY powered or passive mid/high pack speakers, try these. I bet they are what you will buy...they are all that!!!!  They’re more expensive than the competition, but they’re worth every penny!!!

 ‘My band's PA system currently consists of a powered mixer, two JBL TR225's, two JBL SR4702X monitors, a Crown CE1000 power amp (for TR225's) and a QSC PLX3402 amp (monitors).  I was looking at the rest of the JBL SR-X series and was curious as to what I should purchase next?  I was looking at the JBL SR-X4732 (two 12" speakers/3 way), the JBL SR-X4733 (two 15" speakers/2 way) and the JBL SR-X4719 (two 18" subs). I've read through a lot of these threads and my basic understanding is that 12 inch drivers sound much better than 15's, ESPECIALLY when paired with subwoofers.

A pair of JBL SR-X 4732 Dual 12" 3-way speakers. I have a pair of JBL SRX4732 speakers matched with a Crown Macro-tech 3600-VZ amplifier. It sounds AWESOME. For Proms and High School Dances - JBL SR and JBLSRX Series Loudspeakers, powered by Crown Macro-tech amps are the absolute best.  I love them! I just wish they were smaller and easier to carry around.  For the right price, however, I would consider parting with them as I'm now focusing more on smaller wedding venues than I am on Proms and other High School events. JBL SR-X series speakers are nearly overkill for the average wedding, so I'm looking at going with some smaller powered speakers.

How JBL Tortures Speakers:

At JBL Professional, we subject our designs to the most rigorous and demanding testing in the industry. As a result, the

power rating specification of a JBL Professional product may be lower than that of a competitive speaker which has less actual power handling capacity.

•JBL tests speaker systems as systems. Some competitive speaker systems are rated based on the power rating of the

individual transducers. Actually, the power handling of the individual components doesn’t tell the entire story. When a transducer is installed in an enclosure, it may not be able to dissipate heat as well as it did outside the box. Or the crossover network might fail long before the transducers. When you select a JBL speaker system, you know that the design has been tested as a complete system.

•JBL tests speaker designs for over 100 hours. A speaker system typically doesn’t reach its maximum operating tempera-

ture for at least 2 or more hours. Yet some manufacturers make power handling claims based on mere minutes of testing.

At JBL we test our designs for 100 hours at rated power output. Our 100 hour power test subjects the speaker to more stress and strain than it would get in years of actual use. At the end of this torture, the speaker must still perform to specification.

•JBL uses the IEC spectrum for testing speakers. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) has established a

standard for a loudspeaker test signal. This method uses shaped noise in a specified frequency range (50 Hz—5 kHz), a specified high and low-pass filter slope, and a specified “crest factor” (the ratio between the average and peak signal level). IEC shaped noise places greater demands on a speaker than real music.

Extremely heavy, but well the money!

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend!

This in my opinion is THE BEST Crown amp ever built, even better than the I-tech series. I've seen this amp run lower than 2 ohms in a night outside when it was 90 degree's and around 100% humidity. Not a single problem. The amps didn't hiccup, ODEP was never engaged, it just ran and was happy all night long. Running this amp for FOH applications, i've seen it run numerous types of subs and it does so with ease. If you have the money and the muscle to lift it, (it's a beast to try and lift, it's almost 80 pounds) it will be the best addition to your amp rack that money can buy. Also make sure you can power it, don't think of running it on a 15 amp circuit.

If you want high quality, high power, low weight then the FBT MAXX-4a is your perfect choice. The Maxx 4's are ideal for professional singers and Karaoke Jockeys where quality is paramount.  “Well I have stumbled across this review site as I contemplated whether or not I should purchase a pair of these FBT

Maxx 4a speakers… I am a professional singer and Karaoke Jockey and I’ve recently downsized my rig due to lifting problems.  I started with an FBT pick up mixer/amp combo. My agent ordered the pair of FBT Maxx4a speakers for me and I took them out on the road for the 1st time last night. All I can say is… WOW!  Truly Amazing!

I’ve been on the road for many years and have heard all kinds of speaker systems, from Bose to Electro-Voice, from Turbosound to Ohm and I have to say, that considering how light-weight and compact these speakers are, I was a bit concerned that not only the quality of the cabinet would be affected by this, but also the sound. Visually they remind me of the EV SX Series speaker. So presumably I thought they were a cheap version of the EV cabinet and would fall well below par in comparison… Oh no!  How wrong was I…! The sound is crystal clear and the bass is surprisingly punchy for a cabinet as small and light as the FBT Maxx 4’s.

 

The continuous pace I put them through last night was immense and they stood up to the job fantastically. For the price and the benefit of their size and weight, they are an awesome sound cabinet and they out price the comparisons by a long way. For professional singers, bands, and Karaoke Jockey's you can’t go far wrong with these cabinets. For DJ's, they would be excellent with a sub or two, just to give them the extra kick. But overall, FBT Maxx4a’s gives a 10 out of 10 for performance…  Oh and vocally???  WOW! I previously used Celestion SR10 MK 2 speakers and they were okay for sound, but not that good for vocals, these FBT Maxx 4a’s even made the worst singers sound good. LOL!”

FBT Hi Maxx 40a Details

The FBT HI Maxx 40a  speaker features  lightweight, yet rugged gas injected molded polypropylene cabinet construction. The asymmetrical shape of the HI Maxx 40a cabinet also allows use as a powered floor stage monitor. The FBT HI Maxx 40a is a two-way design incorporating a custom FBT designed, B&C manufacturered 12” low frequency woofer with neodymium magnet and a B&C 1.7” High frequency driver coupled to a 90°H x 60°V horn. The active internal crossover is at a fixed frequency of 1.6k. With a frequency range of 45Hz – 20kHz, the HI Maxx 40a provides hi fidelity sound for both speech and music applications with a maximum SPL of 127 dB. A front face steel grille protects the woofer from external damage. FBT’s ADAP® Advanced Dynamic Active Protection circuitry protects speaker/driver components against failure. The Bi amplified HI Maxx 40a active speaker features a 500w RMS Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) low frequency amp, and a 150w RMS Class G high frequency amp. The control panel features a master volume control,  3 band EQ with +- 15dB of cut/boost @ 80Hz LF, 12 dB of cut/boost @2.5k Midrange and +- 15 db cut/ boost @ 10kHz, a balanced Neutrik® input combo jack (female XLR, ¼” TRS, ¼”), balanced XLR link output jack, microphone / line input switch, and ground lift switch, stereo RCA input with a separate volume control, LED power on and separate HF and LF overload LED indicators.

The four M -10 fly points built into the cabinets, along with the optional Box 100 or Box 101 mounting brackets allow the Maxx 4a speakers to be surface mounted on walls or ceilings. A standard 1? speaker stand socket allows the HI Maxx 40a to be mounted on speaker stands.

How much should you spend on a professional wedding DJ? Well, let’s put it this way….the bad ones are a dime a dozen!  It couldn’t be more true that, “you get what you pay for” when it comes to hiring a professional DJ. In reality, the difference in actual price between a bargain DJ and a professional DJ is relatively small compared to the overall cost of planning a wedding. Couples will think nothing of spending $20 to $40 per person for food and drinks, and then turn around and bargain-hunt for the cheapest entertainment that they can find, often spending less than 5% of the total cost of the wedding on entertainment. Your guests are likely to remember only one thing about your wedding when they leave: Did they have a good time?
 
Investing 8-10% of your wedding budget on your DJ is actually a great value, considering that he accounts for 80% of the responsibility of a successful wedding reception. The price may be less during the “off” season. The actual price will depend on several factors, including day and date of the wedding, duration of event, equipment needs, etc. Again, it is best to find a company that offers one, all-inclusive package.
